Dunkerron, a wooded parkland estate on the ring of Kerry 2km from Kenmare, has beautiful mountain views and nestles quietly on the shores of Kenmare Bay. The houses are set in magnificent parkland and are beautifully finished and excellently equipped.
These exclusive holiday homes are part of the demense of Dunkerron castle, the original 13th century stronghold of the O'Sullivan Mor family.
The development comprises 20 detached 4 (double/twin) bedrooms with one bedroom downstairs. The houses which are architecturally designed based on the Kenmare style house which is typical of the area.
The houses are characterised by their steep intersecting dormer roofs, with covered verandah, strong overhanging eaves and Queen Post Roof Truss gables, with finial details to the ridges. This reflects the origins of the style, which was often used on individual lodges in Kenmare and the vicinity. At the same time, they are detailed in a more contemporary manner than their Victorian predecessors, being presented in a simple restrained manner. The interior of the houses are designed to offer interconnecting open plan living accommodation, while the large dormer bedrooms are full of the charm and feel of a true estate lodge.
The houses have a three bathrooms.
Downstairs have a sitting room which is seperated from the dining area by a large pillar. The kitchen and dining room is open plan.
There is a double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom on the ground floor.
The first floor has three bedrooms and two bathrooms: One double ensuite, one double room, one twin room (two single beds) and a family bathroom.
The houses are stylishly furnished and modern.
Kenmare, 2km away, is a cosmopolitan town hosting superb restaurants, craft shops, art galleries and public houses. It makes an ideal base for touring the ring of Kerry, Beara Peninsula and the Skelling Islands to name but a few.
An immediate non-refundable booking deposit of €100 per property is required to secure booking. The balance of the payment is required not less than 6 weeks before arrival date.
The charge for electricity and gas is €10 per night from March - Oct from Nov - the 1st March it is metered. Utilities are calculated and payable onsite upon departure.
Towels are available by request at €3 per set during the off peak months (Oct - April). From May 1st - Sep 30th they are provided as part of your rental.
Cots and highchairs must be pre-ordered. Cot linen is not supplied and must be brought by guests.
Pets are welcome. There is an additional cleaning fee of €30 payable to caretaker on departure.
A refundable security deposit of €100 must be paid to the supervisor/caretaker on arrival. The deposit will be refunded once the supervisor is satisfied that the terms and conditions of rental have been compiled with. It is expected that the homes be left in a clean & tidy condition on departing. All rubbish should be gathered and stored in suitable plastic bags. Failure to leave the accommodation in a clean and tidy condition may result in the loss of security deposit. When a rental is for longer than one week, cleaning of the house during rental must be requested from the on-site manager and a fee may apply.
